       P2 is a film that lacks the sizzle to be considered a true cult classic.  The first five minutes are the most terrifying portion of the film.  The remainder is the story of a sicko stalker who is only guilty of falling in love with a woman that is evidently the bravest and most agile woman in an entire corporate building.  Furthermore, the premise lacks real credence.  Rachel Nichols’ character remains behind on Christmas eve to complete her enormous stockpile of ultra important office paper work.  Before being the last to leave the building which probably houses thousands of people, a coworker begged her forgiveness for sexually assaulting her although he remains married and with children.  She forgives him, this is a plot shocker.

       One of the most frustrating missteps of this film is that there are no twists and turns, no saviors, no heroes, no rescues, just two actors, Rachel Nichols and Wes Bentley, both of whom are rather dull.  Wes Bentley plays the role of the lonely and mentally disturbed parking attendant who arranges for her car to be “randomly” stalled.  His attempts to repair the car are a failure.  Consequently, she decides to hail a cab so he in turn renders her unconscious in the dark.  What a novel concept for a horror movie.  End the frightening moments!!!

       Begin the boredom mixed in with mild intrigue as Wes Bentley and Rachel Nichols begin a series of contrived almost escapes, harmless practical taunts, hide and go seek in the dark, and weird stalkerish moments on my movie screen.  This of course involves the obligatory appearance of bumbling police officers who somehow miss her screams and drive away none the wiser.  I will not spoil the genuinely gory ending, but I will argue that this movie would be perfect for a hot date mixed in with a new moon for extra darkness outside.  Save it for a freezing and quiet winter evening, and most definitely avoid this film in the theater.
