200 Year old canned food (still fresh), odd creatures which hint at radiation based gigantism, Bill Murray with a gluttony problem and a futuristic underground society with archaic technology? To Summarize, this is the City of Ember.
This movie ties in the creepiness of The Wicker Man filmed in the aftermath of a Harry Potter cast party on a Harry Potter movie set, located on a pet cemetery. This movie could have been fantastic if there were any semblance of originality. Guess what people, if you tie in 3 or 4 shitty movies, that just creates an even larger pile of refuse, much like the animal handlers in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus running behind the Elephants picking up their giant piles of excrement.
I am reading other reviews here at screenspotlight.com about corrupt politics, energy crises, and food shortages. For a futuristic society, I would think that they would have hydroponics, and an advanced aquaculture laboratory to breed fish and grow vegetation? I did see a deflated potato in the film, which looked quite like Ron Jeremy's nut sack after a long day on set. The most standout character next to Martin Landau sleeping, was the half rooster / half slug creature roaming the pipe works with a mouth that looked like a stimulation device out of the Adam & eve catalog. Needless to say, overall, this movie is cool in theory and awful in practice.
