In addition to the male heartthrobs, there are attractive actresses in this film, namely Rachel Weisz, and Natalie Portman. The cinematography is admirable, and some of the colours and visuals are cherishable . Nevertheless, if you are the kind of person who likes to dig deep into the souls of the characters in films, you will be left craving more. Some of the characters are hardly realistic and the movie as whole is really dissatisfying.

The film unfolds primarily in restaurants. Jones works as a waitress in different restaurants and in so doing encounters a series of characters, who have their own tales to tell. It does not take much experience to predict how this film will end up. To be fair, Jude Law looks a little rough and unkempt, with a somewhat comical wooly hat planted on his head. He runs a restaurant, and is a marathon runner, who mysteriously ended up running a restaurant in New York instead. Naturally, being a British actor, his character hails from Manchester, England.

We learn he had some kind of "meaningful relationship" with a Russian woman, who make a fleeting visit in the film. Again, disappointingly, details about the characters are a bit sketchy and superficial. . When I think of Jude Law, I think of his performance as a petulant Lord Alfred "Bosie" Douglas, the glamorous lover of Stephen Fry's Oscar Wilde. He can certainly play the parts of characters with a vicious streak, but in this film he is cast as an affable character, a man trapped in lost dreams perhaps.

If you like films in which a journey is involved, teamed with landscapes enhanced with digital trickery, then this film will hold some appeal. The scenes are well executed. Towards the end we end up in Las Vegas and of course the much covered subject of poker, takes its place in the film, with this understated plot. Naturall,y music also adds to the ambience. Norah Jones has a beautiful voice and has made her mark in the jazz world. I was not drawn to deep into this film, my imagination not captured, it was too lacklustre.
