Blood Money Starring Alex Castro

Writer/Director of Blood Money, Gregory McQualter understands the value of pomp and ceremony when it comes to the act or instance of killing. Meaningless death is as implied, pointless. Wrestling’s real genius started to show itself because of Vince McMahon. He understood that villains must go overboard in their quest to antagonize heroes. Without suspense and sufficient build-up, there is very little point in caring. The storyline is paramount, even more so than the action, though a sweet payoff is what the ultimate expectation is.

The ring leader of the Columbian hooligans is Esteban Cabrera (played by Alex Castro). Esteban allows his henchmen to kill, rape and steal without prejudice. His leadership is based solely on violence and intimidation. Alex Castro’s character shows no mercy to women and enrages the assassin (Zheng Liu). Zheng Liu does not appreciate his countrymen being kidnapped and raped. Moreover, he shares a special connection with one of the victims that makes his quest to eradicate the Columbians of paramount importance.

When Zheng Liu prepares to unleash his years of hardcore training onto the druglords, there is always some vicious sin committed that justifies his actions. As the monk illuminates, the assassin has a troubled soul and is looking to be cleansed of his past sins by rewriting history. The final clash between, Zheng Liu and Alex Castro is simply exhilarating. Castro is hulking as can be and Liu is a fatal weapon.

Blood Money is worth every nickel, dime or penny one has. The film is an action thriller with a focused plot and a great deal of the essential back-story viewers need to appreciate the violence that follows. Ultimately, Blood Money is a balanced picture starring relative unknowns that put on a fast and furious show. I highly recommend a viewing folks. Until next time, see you at the movies!
