     In Youth in Revolt Michael Cera sounds like a woman, dresses like a woman, acts like a little girl, and looks like a clumsy/uncoordinated oaf. If this is an audition for better roles it is a critical failure. He quite simply cannot act. Even without the drag outfit he looks like a cross-dresser, and has a higher voice than Justin Timberlake.

     His dufus character ruins his parents' expensive cars (Poor BMW) and goes to prison in order to lose his virginity to the girl he causes to be expelled from school. Does this make sense? Less sense than Katy Perry marrying Russell Brand or Russell Brand marrying Katy Perry for that matter. None of Cera's puerile antics are funny.

     Watching Youth in Revolt is like waking up and discovering you have a flu-like cold and still have to go to work to deliver the most important presentation of your career. It is that miserable.
