Sunshine Cleaning

How do you make much needed extra money as a cleaner? Answer, you clean up after dead people, usually suicides. Two sisters follow this route. One, Rose has a son, who she needs to educate privately, as he is seen as disruptive, in his school, the other Norah is overly clumsy and accident prone, un-hireable as a waitress. The bonding between the two sisters is strong. "Sunshine cleaning" begins to grow. At times they are deeply disturbed by what they are asked to clean up. Norah Lorkowski (Emily Blunt) is inquisitive about one of the deceased’s past and follows her estranged daughter. Their business is provided by Rose Lorkowski’s (Amy Adams) married boyfriend, a policeman. The film like it’s predecessor, Little Miss Sunshine, has an array of quirky characters. It flippantly pokes fun at American culture. There are some strong similarities with Little Miss Sunshine, through a very different storyline. The two principle female actors, the Lorkowski sisters, Amy Adams and Emily Blunt, thrive in their rolls. It was educative for me, I had never heard of a "baby shower"before and if somebody would like to enlighten me as to its purpose I would be grateful, they are I think unheard of in the UK, a strange ritual indeed for me. Despite being such dark subject matter this was another ray of sunshine.
