Paperman Disney Short Film

Paperman (Disney short film) allows what seems like a lifetime of romance to unfold in six minutes and change. Two people destined to be in love meet happenstantially while waiting for two different train cars. He (George) is decked-out in a suit and she (Meg) looks lovely wearing her professional attire. They are two old fashioned people that are syrupy sweet introverts. Their work papers begin scattering in the wind. Suddenly, one of George's documents is smushed against Meg's salient red lips and voila, they have their first kiss (well, sort of!). When the rose-kissed paper distracts his attention for the flashiest of flashes (quoting Rowan Atkinson from Love Actually), she boards the train. Meg gives what we old fogies called the "backwards-stare" during the 1990s. Unfortunately, after their eyes lock, she literally vanishes along with the train car ostensibly never to be seen or heard from by the heart-broken young man...that is, until he sees her in the adjacent building on the exact same floor. Writing more about their fated reunion would indubitably spoil the romance for those that have not already Valentined (an Urban Dictionary word) themselves out.

For some befuddling reason Paperman (Disney animated short) reminds me of an older film, Chances Are with Sybil Sheperd and Robert Downey, Jr. I supposition there is nothing like the formation of true love. Romance blossoming in the air on a Valentine's Day week has the potential to be special and everlasting. So what if we are poorly emulating William Wordsworth? Paperman (Disney animated short) deserves all the attention in the world. For a short film, Paperman compresses 90 minutes of emotion into under four hundred and twenty seconds or thereabouts. This is one short that will be remembered for a long time. Thank you yet again Disney!
