The Watching Detectives

Lucy Liu is incredibly hot. Moreover, she has finally arrived as an actress. Playing a Charlie’s Angel did her career no favors and made her out to be a ditzy airhead with no acting talent whatsoever. Well fans, what a difference a film or a year makes. Lucky Number Slevin solidified her as a great candidate for the understanding and heart-warming girlfriend type you never see coming from a mile away with a telescope. In The Watching Detectives she oozes hotness, sex appeal, excitement, allure, and as the world of sport entertainment would proclaim, "She’s hot, she’s spicy, she tastes great, Luuuucy Liiiiiuuuu!"

Meanwhile ladies, you may wish to know about her counterpart. Cillian Murphy has starred in a variety of fascinating films and has played a supporting role in countless movies. My favorites are Sunshine (a film about the decaying of the sun and a rescue mission which turns out horribly), Red Eye, a Wes Craven film (in which he plays the evil contract killer whose throat becomes lacerated heavily), and Batman Begins (in which he plays Scarecrow, the medicine man). Adding to his resume is his romance with the demure Lucy Liu. Their on screen chemistry is not just believable; one must wonder how they did not become lovers in real life.

The plot is marginally similar to that seen in Be Kind Rewind, only in reverse, if that makes any sense. Cillian is the owner of an old classic films store which is in competition with Media Giant, a store eerily similar to Block…well, you get the point! Enter randomly Lucy who ostensibly had been surveying our young protagonist from a distance and has deemed him in need of some real life excitement. Cillian’s problem (I disagree!) is his addiction to old films and his relentless pursuit of cable television. Lucy’s character is devoted to living every moment without cable, and without the crutch of other television programs. She takes him on a series of hilarious, brilliantly sweet, and frankly bizarre adventures. Watch and be entertained. For optimal viewing try this movie at 2:30 A.M. on a sleepless night, or with your girlfriend or boyfriend.
