       To break this curse they have to find a suitable candidate to marry their pig-faced daughter. Candidates are so shocked by her appearance they are prone to jump out of the window or run screaming from the large family pile. All candidates fail miserably until a chancer and seasoned gambler Max (James McAvoy) enters the fray. Of course now it is easy to calculate the inevitable ending, with a few hick-ups along the way and piggy jokes.

       The film has a high quantity of British actors and seems to fall between two stools, without managing to really impose itself. Give the film and the talented cast of directors Gilliam/Burton we might have had a decent film on our hands. As it is I think it is better suited to a teen age TV soap series. It does have its positive point; I liked the performance by Peter Dinklage as Lemon.
